Robyn Greene Arrington  |  VP of Original Programming & Production, TV One

Barnard Jaffier was the series producer/director for Murder in Black and White

The series was challenging with many deadlines and concerns of going over budget. The network chose Barnard because he brings the skills that are crucial to any film project. In particular, he is a talented leader and filmmaker, who has established skills in editing, producing, and directing. Barnard is also uniquely accomplished as a strong storyteller.

I look forward to working with Barnard Jaffier again in the future. He is that rare professional in the film industry who has mastered production and post-production workflows and moves on to use these skills to create new exciting projects.

Patrick Inhoffer  |  Colorist/Post-Production Supervisor/Editor

Barnard is a terrific storyteller. His skills are unique in that he’s very detail-oriented, but he’s also good with “big picture” issues.

As a producer, Barnard has a terrific ability to “herd cats”. He can track multiple people moving in multiple directions and keep them oriented to serve a common purpose. He’s open to ideas and suggestions and can move on them quickly with a minimum of fuss. He’s also aware of the importance of workflow and how that can have either a positive or negative impact on the entire process.

As a director, Barnard knows what he likes, he knows what he doesn’t like, but he’s willing to explore alternate ideas and avenues. Working with Barnard as both an editor and colorist, I’ve found him to be collaborative and enthusiastic.

I look forward to working with Barnard on future projects, and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a strong leader who understands the creative process.

Lystine Cush  |  Viacom/BET Project Manager

As project manager, I had the pleasure of working with Director/Producer Barnard Jaffier. Barnard produced and directed the award-winning Heart of the City: Katrina Five Years Later and secured one of BET’s top-rated viewing shows of the 2010 programming season with some 646,000 viewers for the primetime special’s initial airing, beating out HBO/Spike Lee’s If God is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise documentary. The special also won the 2010-2011 New York Association of Black Journalists (NYABJ) award for journalism in the Public Affairs category. I look forward to working with Barnard in the future and recommend without reservation.

Carlos Chiossone  |  Cinematographer

Barnard is the hardest-working man in show business! And a pleasure to work with. He gets the job done and enjoys doing it. He has a level of personal excellence that is refreshing and delightful. I work with him every chance I get, ever since we first worked together more than a decade ago. I recommend him highly.

Rich Marino |  Colorist

I would highly recommend Barnard Jaffier, who is someone I regard as a consummate professional. I have had the opportunity to work with Barnard on many productions throughout the years, and it has always been a very meaningful and creative experience. I appreciate his creativity, code of conduct, and the quality-minded standards, which he applies to his work with constant, focused attention to detail. He is extremely driven and hardworking with a thorough knowledge of the filmmaking process, including all aspects of pre-production, production, acquisition, and post-production. It is an absolute pleasure to be associated with Barnard Jaffier.

Amy Rockefeller  |  Producer

In 2005, I had the pleasure of working with Barnard Jaffier on the PBS documentary series, African American Lives. As a staff member of Kunhardt McGee Productions for 11 years, I worked with a variety of associate producers throughout that time, and Barnard was by far the most dedicated, insightful, and enthusiastic. Even back then, Barnard’s passion for filmmaking was palpable, and so it is no surprise to me that in a few short years, he has achieved well-deserved success as a filmmaker. I wholeheartedly recommend Barnard.
