Set in 42nd Street automat circa 1955, Scribblin at the Automat is a fictional conversation between lifelong high school friends James Baldwin and Richard Avedon! Â Through the course of the conversation the audience hears the fantastic story about Jimmy in Paris with Dizzy Gillespie and Josephine Baker and Richard’s famous shoot with Marilyn Monroe! Â As they catch up on each other’s lives they also touch on the artists’ struggle, race, celebrity, sex and politics with an uncanny relevance to our times today!
