Set in 42nd Street automat circa 1955, Scribblin at the Automat is a fictional conversation between lifelong high school friends James Baldwin and Richard Avedon!  Through the course of the conversation the audience hears the fantastic story about Jimmy in Paris with Dizzy Gillespie and Josephine Baker and Richard’s famous shoot with Marilyn Monroe!   As they catch up on each other’s lives they also touch on the artists’ struggle, race, celebrity, sex and politics with an uncanny relevance to our times today!
